Beginner’s Guide to Sol Hot Yoga Studio

Welcome to Sol Hot Yoga Studio! Whether you’re new to yoga or practicing with Sol Hot Yoga for the first time, we’re here to make your experience enjoyable and stress-free.  Matt & Sky have developed a unique offering for the hot yoga community.  And, they have designed the space to create the optimal Hot Yoga experience.  We welcome lots of beginners, and yogis at all skill levels.  It can be a therapeutic practice, and here are a few things to introduce you to our practice.

  1. What to Expect
    • Welcoming Atmosphere: Our studio is relaxed, serene, and inviting, with a focus on creating a space where everyone feels at ease.
    • Hot Yoga for All Levels: Classes are designed for all skill levels, so you can go at your own pace while building strength, balance, and flexibility.
    • Heated Environment: The room is heated to help improve flexibility, promote detoxification, and deepen your practice. Temperatures typically range around +105°F.
  2. Introductory Offer. Take advantage of our special intro offers!
    • 2 weeks of unlimited classes for $49 (you can use this one time),
    • 1 week of unlimited classes for $49 (you can use this as many times as you’d like), look for the pricing option “Out of Towner;” Or,
    • 1 class Drop in for $25.
  3. What to Bring
    • Yoga Mat: Bring your own or rent one at the studio.
    • Traction Towel: Essential to manage sweat and maintain grip.
    • Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is key, both before and after class.
    • Comfortable Clothing: Wear moisture-wicking and form-fitting clothes for ease of movement.
  4. Arrive Early
    • Arrive 15-20 minutes before class to check in, settle into the space, and meet your instructor.
    • This allows plenty of time to acclimate to the room, and even meditate a few minutes before class.
  5. During Class
    • Listen to Your Body: Take breaks when needed and don’t push yourself too hard.
    • Follow the Instructor’s Guidance: Our skilled instructors will guide you through poses and breathing techniques, providing modifications for beginners.
    • Allow yourself to sweat: The heat might feel intense, initially, but your body will adapt over time.  A part of the practice is the detox.  Allow your muscles to relax & enjoy this unique experience!
  6. After Class
    • Cool Down: Take a few moments to relax and hydrate.  The final posture is called Śāvāsana (shah-vah-suna), which is translated as “Corpse Pose.”  After we’ve released all the tension in our bodies, and allowed our minds to quiet, then we can truly rest.
    • Stay Consistent: Regular practice helps you adjust to the heat and build confidence.  Some benefits of the 2-week intro is the opportunity to come back many times, figure out the schedule that works, and meet the different instructors.  Sometimes the first class can be overwhelming.  Give yourself the space for grace, and try to practice many times during your first few weeks.
    • Ask Questions: Our team is always available to answer any questions or provide tips.  If you’re not sure about a posture, etiquette in class, or yoga philosophy; feel free to ask!  Many of us were introduced to yoga as adults.  It’s great to acknowledge that there is so much to learn.  Ask, Try, & Learn!
  7. Helpful tips to optimize your experience.
    • Start hydrating the day before class.  This allows your internal organs to prepare.
    • Avoid heavy meals 2-3 hours prior.  (NOTE: An 8oz steak can take up to three days to digest!)
    • Practice being patient with yourself —yoga is a journey, not a race.
    • Bring a positive mindset!  At the beginning of each class, we invite everyone to set a mindful intention for the practice.  This can be a simple thought of gratitude for the time you’ve carved out of your day.  Or, it might be a thought of loving-kindness that you’d like to dedicate to someone.
