Sankalpa is a Sanskrit term for “complete intention”. This is a powerful practice that comes from the heart. At Sol Hot Yoga in 2025, your intention becomes your power—through mindful movement, breath, and focus, we create a space for your purpose to flourish. Here are three tips for setting your intention:
- Clarity of Purpose. May all you do be done with mindfulness. Your intention is not just a casual thought or wish, but a statement to align your present moment with your highest values, purpose, and your sense of personal truth. Intention is the seed from which all growth blossoms; when planted with heart and clarity, it shapes the path to our highest self. Commit to make daily choices that nurture your physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Observe how those choices resonate – do they spark joy, or do you feel worse? Whatever you choose, let your intention come from a place of Mindfulness = Presence + Awareness.
- “May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.” – Nelson Mandela
- Growth and Resilience: May all you do be done with mindful Gratitude. Embrace challenges as opportunities for transformation, leverage the heat and flow at Sol Hot Yoga to practice building strength, flexibility, and awareness of balance in life. Equanimity is the state of mental calmness & balance in the face of challenges. This can be a powerful yet often difficult quality to cultivate. It’s natural to react impulsively, but equanimity requires mindfulness and the ability to pause before responding. As you encounter the challenge, practice finding gratitude in the moment.
- “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” – Victor Frankl
- Community Connection: May all you do be done with Love. Cultivate meaningful relationships within the Sol Hot Yoga community, fostering support, shared energy, and collective growth throughout your journey. We’ve mentioned the risks of Comparing, Competing, and Complaining. All of these are slippery slopes of building trust and genuine connections. Societal expectations, conflicts, or external judgments can challenge one’s ability to stay centered, making it essential to focus inward and not be overly influenced by others’ opinions or actions. Remain mindful of the impact you have on yourself
- “Before you speak, let your words pass through three gates. At the first gate, ask yourself, ‘Is it true?’ At the second ask, ‘Is it necessary?’ At the third gate ask, ‘Is it kind? – Rumi
Mindfulness is like a muscle, and we all have to practice the “sets & reps” with intention. When we encounter the set-backs, consider the mind of a seed – it can feel buried, or it can feel planted. The most important choice is to practice daily. Cultivating your purpose with Sol, begins each day!
